                                          The Open Art Exhibition – 'Elemental'   

                   (which will also be part of Creative Lincs Art Trail and Open Studios) 

                                         

                                         Terms and Conditions for Submissions

Venue: Harding House Gallery (upstairs), 50 Steep Hill, Lincoln LN2 1LT.

​

Dates: 8th-28th June'26 (inclusive), and incorporating The Creative Lincs Art Trail on 26,27,28th.

    

Eligibility: The Open Art exhibition is open to all artists resident in Lincolnshire.​

​

Fees: The submission fee is £6.00 per artist per piece (payable later) for the three week exhibition, plus a flat rate of £7.00 for the Art Trail fee. For those artists who have already paid an Art Trail fee for work exhibited at another venue, the additional £7.00 fee is waived.

To summarise, the fees are:

                            1 piece + Previously paid Art Trail registration fee = £6.00

                            1 piece + No previously paid Art Trail registration fee = £13.00   

                            2 pieces + Previously paid Art Trail registration fee = £12.00 

                            2 pieces + No previously paid Art Trail registration fee = £19.00

Note: OPen Art Lincs operates on a not-for-profit basis, and the fee covers gallery hire and other essential costs such as catalogue printing and preview catering and excludes any labour costs.                             delivered to you for distribution in your local area.

                         …listed in the Creative Lincs Newsletter, May and June editions.

                         …listed as part of the social media campaign, including Facebook

                            and Instagram.

 

Theme: The theme of the open exhibition is ‘Elemental’ (see the 'Call for Submissions' web-page for more information). The medium can be 2D painting, drawing etc, or 3D in any medium (eg sculpture, ceramics, or assemblages etc).

Size restrictions: Ideally we are looking at works not greater than (80 x 60cm) for wall art, but exceptions will be made for larger pieces appropriate for the exhibition. 3-D work should be no larger than (20 x 20 x 20cm).

Submissions: All submissions should be made using the form on the OPen Art Lincs website (see link below). Entries are restricted to two pieces of work per artist which must be for sale. All work submitted must have been executed between 2024 and 2026 and not shown earlier in any Open Art exhibitions. Artists may include up to five prints and twenty cards of their art work in the actual exhibition.

 

Submission Deadline: The deadline for submissions is midnight May 7th 2026. If a sufficient number of pieces have been received (and accepted) to meet the capacity of the art space before that date, the deadline may be brought forward.

Judging: Selections for the exhibition will be made by a specialist panel on an individual basis, and most artists will have at least one piece included in the exhibition. The gallery owners of Harding House and OPen Art Lincs reserve the right to de-select any works that are unsuitable for viewing by people under the age of 18.

Images: Uploaded images of works must be in .JPG/JPEG/PNG format with each image having a file size between 50Kb - 3.0Mb. Entrants may submit one image of each work (ie a maximum of two images). The images should be taken square on to the artwork, with no external objects showing. For 3D work please take the photograph against a plain background.

Prizes: There will be an opportunity for visitors to vote for their favourite piece in the exhibition. A cash prize of £75 will be awarded to the winner and £25 to the runner up.

Sale of Work: A 40% commission will be taken off all sales, please consider this when you price your work. The price stated on the submission form is the exhibition selling price inclusive of the commission. Payments for sold work will be made to the artists within a few days of the end of the exhibition.

Insurance and Damage to Works: Selected works will be treated with the utmost care on the stated delivery date. Harding House Gallery will not be responsible for any loss or damage to artwork whilst in their possession however caused. Harding House Gallery does not make provision for individual insurance of works of art. Exhibitors are responsible for arranging their own insurance to cover damage or loss to their artwork either in transit or whilst at the gallery.

​Copyright: By submitting work to the exhibition, the artist confirms that they hold all intellectual property rights in the work, and that they have obtained prior written approval for the use of any third party copyrighted material contained in the submitted work. Artists will allow the work to be photographed and reproduced by the organisers for both publicity and marketing purposes, in digital and print format. Copyright of all work remains the property of the artist.

Data Protection: In accordance with the data protection Act 1998 (and all other relevant Data Protection Legislation), OPen Art Lincs will hold the personal data of artists supplied on the Submission Form securely. The data will only be used in the process of administering the exhibition and will not be transferred to any third party not directly involved in this exhibition.
