An Open Exhibition Call to Artists 

                                                            for submissions on the theme:

                                                         'Elemental'

​​We are pleased to invite submissions for 'Elemental', an open art exhibition taking place at Harding House Gallery in Lincoln this June. This exhibition, open to all Lincolnshire-based artists, will - through contemporary artistic practice - explore the enduring and powerful theme of the five elements Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and the quintessential element that pervades all, the Ether (or Spirit)!

Originally the five elements of classical Greece and other early cultures were proposed to explain the nature and complexity of life and human experience in terms of simpler substances and their combinations. 

​

We are looking forward to seeing rich and varied responses to the theme from artists in any way that resonates with their practice. Some areas artists may wish to explore are:

• The natural world 

• The human connection with nature

• The elements as metaphors of emotional or psychological states

• Spiritual and human developmental explorations

 

We particularly welcome imaginative and contemporary responses that move beyond the purely literal.
